Aberdeen Airport's passenger numbers up 3.8% in October

Passenger numbers at Aberdeen International Airport have grown for another month, as nearly 327,800 people used the airport in the month of October, representing an increase of 3.8% on the previous year.

Growth was shown in both the helicopter and fixed-wing operations – growing by 10.3% and 2.8% respectively.

Carol Benzie is the airport MD. She said: “October is always a diverse month for our passenger numbers. We see holiday flights increase around the popular October break, offset by a slight reduction in business flights for the same reason. This year the get-away presented us with what turned out to be our busiest ever day on the 11th October when we processed more passengers than during our previous record during Offshore Europe week this year. It was a challenge which I am pleased to say that all our on-site teams rose to admirably.

“The message from Aberdeen is a positive one. We are seeing the business performing well, our numbers are growing and we are moving into the winter season with positivity and preparedness. Our passenger numbers have grown each month since April this year, and as a team we are all hopeful that trend continues.”
