ADS is today holding its one day Public Security Exhibition (PSE) in Ankara,Turkey, with support from UK Trade and Investment Defence and Security Organisation (UKTI DSO) and the British Embassy in Ankara.

Held at the Sheraton Hotel in Ankara, 16 UK suppliers of Security equipment and solutions will exhibit their expertise specifically in the areas of border solutions, homeland and maritime security.

UK Security exports for 2010 were £2bn making the UK the 5th largest exporter of security equipment and solutions in the world with a 5% share of the global market. Turkey is one of the largest importers of security equipment and as a member of NATO with the second largest armed forces is an ideal export market for the UK Security sector.

PSE Ankara will introduce UK companies to the Turkish end user including the Armed Forces and Turkish National Police. On the following day, these companies will be introduced to local companies from the Turkish Defence and Security cluster which are looking to partner with UK business.

UK companies at this exhibition have undertaken to take direct responsibility to ensure that they have the proper Export Licence and/or Trade Control License necessary to take part in this activity.

Rees Ward, CEO at ADS, said: “We live in an uncertain world where countries increasingly need more sophisticated tools to ensure their nation’s safety and security. Whether this is monitoring vital infrastructure such as pipelines or the need for better border management, UK industry has proven time and time again that we can provide the tools which get the job done while collaborating with international partners.

“Turkey as a NATO ally and large importer of defence and security equipment is a perfect industrial partner for the UK Security sector and I am encouraged to see such interest which has resulted in PSE Ankara. The support of both UKTI DSO and the British Embassy has been invaluable and I look forward to hearing of the new business opportunities that will spring from this event.”
