Air Commodities team appoints Frazer-Nash as independent safety auditor
The Air Commodities team is responsible for the delivery and support of a large range of common avionics equipment that is used across several air platforms, as well as aircraft ground support equipment. The project team is reviewing and updating the safety cases for all its equipment, and required independent third party audit to provide assurance that the safety cases are fit for purpose, and up to date.
Frazer-Nash will be initially conducting a high level audit of the project team’s existing approach to safety management across all of the equipment it supports, understanding how this is implemented and providing recommendations for changes. The company will then provide audits of individual pieces of equipment as required, and contribute to safety-related meetings.
Martin Soltau, defence aerospace business manager at Frazer-Nash, said: “Frazer-Nash is a highly experienced Independent Safety Auditor for the MoD on a number of major programmes and platforms, including the Merlin HM2 helicopter, UK Military Flying Training System, Astute and In-Service Submarines, Surface Ships and Land Vehicles.
“The challenge of this project arises from the diverse nature of the equipment, requiring the ISA to take a pragmatic and proportionate approach to audit and advice for each group of equipment. It is a task our high calibre team is greatly looking forward to.”
Frazer-Nash’s contract with the Air Commodities team runs to the end of October 2013.
