AJW and Tigerair enter long-term partnership

Tigerair Australia has signed a long-term partnership agreement with AJW Aviation to transform the support programme for its current fleet of 13 Airbus A320 aircraft as part of the airline's ongoing focus on improving operational efficiency.

As part of the agreement AJW will deliver complete inventory technical management (ITM) across a variety of areas including components, major assemblies, wheels and brakes, auxiliary power units (APU), thrust reversers and consumables. The partnership will be underpinned by AJW’s global inventory of Airbus A320 spares located in accessible hubs across the region.

This is AJW’s first major contract in Australia and is further evidence of the Group’s burgeoning strength in the Australasia region, which was spearheaded by its important strategic supplier relationship with Air New Zealand in 2013. Within the framework of this complete programme, Tigerair Australia will also benefit from the specialist capabilities provided by Air New Zealand TechOps’ repair stations in Auckland and Christchurch. These will further reduce direct maintenance costs and improve reliability.

Rob Sharp, CEO of Tigerair Australia, said that building a more efficient operating platform is a key focus area for the airline as it continues to make headway with its three year transformation program.

“Tigerair is not only committed to sustaining affordable air travel for our customers throughout Australia, but also to ensuring we have a seamless travel experience that they enjoy. This new partnership with AJW enables us to build on our progress to date as an efficient and reliable carrier that brings strong competition to the budget air carrier market.”

“We’re working together on mutually beneficial objectives,” says Boris Wolstenholme, CEO of AJW Aviation. “Tigerair Australia will be assisted by our Singapore office and backed up by our highly experienced global technical support team. AJW is extremely proud to have created this partnership which will enable us to demonstrate what we do best – transforming aviation efficiency.”

Deepak Sharma, Chief Technical Officer of AJW Group, has additional accountability for the AsiaPAC including Australasia region and has been instrumental in bringing AJW’s capabilities to the attention of airlines seeking competitive advantage via a new and innovative approach.

“Not only do AJW have a global fleet of over 500 aircraft under power-by-the-hour, we also have over 20,000,000 flight hours of fleet and component reliability data. Very few organisations can share the experiences that we have which allow us to challenge ‘normal’ practices and truly innovate within the industry – this is what makes the new relationship with Tigerair Australia so ground breaking.”
