AJW Aviation appoints David Lewis as Chief Technical Officer
David (right) will be responsible for: technical standards and best practices across all divisions of the business, specifically MRO, reliability, warranty and inventory management for customer’s technical spares support programmes, aircraft maintenance, engine management and asset health monitoring; guiding aircraft teardown and end of lease management reconciliations, as well as service level agreements with AJW’s approved repair vendors.
Lewis joins AJW from a seven year career at flydubai, where he was most recently Head of Engineering responsible for fleet airworthiness, engine management, technical planning and records, and safety. He was also accountable for aircraft purchase and lease contracts, and all maintenance costs and service agreements, including relationships with manufacturers and OEMs. Prior to that, he worked as Technical Consultant to GECAS with full responsibility for the management and re-delivery of Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
As Station Engineering Manager at XL Airways he assumed total management of all engineering activity at London Gatwick airport including the development of a fully insourced MRO solution. This position was preceded by various maintenance control roles within the airline, which he joined in 2002 after hands-on aircraft maintenance and engineering positions with companies such as British Airways, Thomas Cook and KLM Engineering. Lewis trained with the Royal Air Force airframe and engine maintenance management apprentice scheme, rising to the rank of corporal and supervising teams of engineers often in areas of conflict. He has an MBA and holds an EASA Part 66 A1 and B1 licence with various aircraft type ratings.

Lewis will report directly to Boris Wolstenholme, CEO – AJW Aviation and will work closely with the senior management team. He joins the organisation on 9th May and will be based at AJW’s corporate headquarters in the UK.
