Altus and Accelonix host successful technology day

Altus Group joined forces with supplier of electronic and precision manufacturing and test equipment, Accelonix, to host a seminar which welcomed over 30 companies to the one-day event.

CoNEXTions Technology Day held at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry, looked at SMT production and test equipment for factories of the future, with a total of eight seminars presented from global suppliers.

Altus and Accelonix developed the CoNEXTions event to present customers with the current developments and technical trends being introduced in the electronics industry.  Presentations from the world’s biggest manufacturers including Koh Young, YJ Link, Kirsten, ATN, Teradyne, Takaya, Siemens and Data I/O gave attendees the inside view on how the latest technologies and techniques will benefit manufacture.

Richard Booth, General Manager Altus said: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many of our customers and suppliers to the CoNEXTions Technology Day. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce some of the most innovative and ground-breaking equipment that will change the way SMT production, test and inspection procedures are fulfilled in the future.

“The day included an interesting mix of presentations and hand-on demonstrations giving customers the opportunity to understand exactly how this innovative equipment works on the shop floor. An example of this was with the introduction of Koh Young’s Zenith full 3D AOI System which provides full 3D inspection of components, patterns, holes and even foreign material on assembled PCBs, with true 3D measurement, a distinct advantage to the shortcomings of conventional 2D AOI. 3D inspection is certainly the future for the industry and becoming increasingly popular. CoNEXTions gave us the opportunity to present this technology and support our supplier with this industry trend.

“Together with a mix of presentations organised by our event partner Accelonix, the comprehensive and informative Technology Day has given us both the opportunity to come face to face with existing and prospective customers.

“The day was such a success that we have been inundated with requests for information from the seminars presented during the event and so we have added the data to our website – this interest has proved just how successful the day was.”
