Icelandair announces more flights from Glasgow Airport
Andres Jonsson, General Manager of Icelandair UK, said: “By using Iceland’s geographical position midway between Europe and North America we offer some of the fastest elapsed times to the USA from five UK gateways.”
Francois Bourienne, commercial director at Glasgow Airport, said: "It's great news that Icelandair is increasing its capacity on this service. Today's announcement will be incredibly welcome, both with the North American tourists, and also with Scots who already know that Icelandair provides a fast way to travel to and from North America with an optional stopover in Iceland.
"Glasgow is an incredibly popular destination for North Americans and even more so following the huge amount of worldwide press coverage the city enjoyed in 2014. The legacy that a series of landmark events such as the Commonwealth Games, the Ryder cup and the MTV music awards have left behind will continue to benefit the city's inbound tourism figures for years to come.
"Icelandair has clearly demonstrated its confidence in the Scottish market, which it has served since the 1940s, by adding significant new capacity for the past two years. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with the airline and to seeing more growth in years to come. "
