During the course of the visit, which began officially yesterday, the delegation has attended a series of meetings and briefings at UK diplomatic and Indian Government facilities in New Delhi and will be making a number of factory visits in Bangalore where Nick Clegg will also be giving a keynote speech.
Bangalore is of particular significance to Nasmyth Group as it is the location of Nasmyth India. Established in 2013 as a wholly owned subsidiary, Nasmyth India plays a critical role in supporting the Group’s globalisation programme, manufacturing quality-assured precision parts and complex assemblies for an international customer base.
This is the first UK trade delegation to visit India since its landmark elections in May and is viewed by the Deputy Prime Minister as an important step in forging a new special relationship between the two countries and opening up new business opportunities for UK companies.
Peter Smith, Chairman and CEO of Nasmyth Group, commented: “We were delighted to accept the invitation from the Deputy Prime Minister to join this important delegation. As our decision to establish Nasmyth India shows, we share Nick Clegg’s conviction that the country represents a key area of future opportunity for UK businesses.”
