Alloy Surfaces secures $22m US Navy contract

Chemring Group's Alloy Surfaces has won a $22.2 million award from the US Navy as part of the first production of a three year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract for the MJU-66 infrared decoy for the US Navy and US Air Force.

The MJU-66 Special Material Decoy is the latest advanced IR Countermeasure that will protect C-130’s from infrared missile threats. The MJU-66 dramatically increases aircraft protection levels against the most advanced IR missiles (Air/Air and Surfaces/Air). The Chemring Countermeasures USA Division is comprised of Alloy Surfaces Co., Inc. and Kilgore Flares Company, LLC of Toone TN.

Alloy Surfaces President, Joseph Verbitski, stated, “We are extremely pleased with the confidence and trust the US Navy and Air Force continue to express in our Special Material Decoys (SMD).” Our Special Material Decoys are used to protect air crews and aircraft against Man Portable Air Defense Systems all around the world.
