BAE Systems appoints Marco Antonio Caffe as General Manager for Brazil
Marco (above) joined BAE Systems as Director for Army & Security in 2013. He is a retired colonel and a graduate of the Military Academy of Agulhas Negras, Brazil.
“Working closely with Jim and the team, Marco has done an excellent job since he joined the business. He has a deep understanding of the Brazilian customer community and his appointment continues our strong, local presence in Brazil, which began back in 1998,” says Llyr Jones, BAE Systems’ Vice President for Latin America and Canada.
"I'm looking forward to my new role and particularly our presence at LAAD 2015,” says Marco. “This week we are showcasing how we can support the Brazilian Armed Forces’ modernisation agenda by working closely with Brazilian industry.”
Current company projects in Brazil include: transferring technology and training the Brazilian Army to upgrade 150 of the country’s M113 armored personnel carriers at its depot in Curitiba; working with Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force on the supply of specific avionics for the KC-390 military transport aircraft and supporting the Brazilian Navy, having delivered three Ocean Patrol Vessels (OPVs) and associated crew training.
Marco was one of the first helicopter pilots to join the Brazilian Army’s Aviation Command in Taubate, Sao Paulo, accumulating over two thousand flying hours. In 2010 and 2011 he attended France’s Ecole de Guerre military college in Paris, which trains high potential officers from the French forces and its allies. He also holds a post graduate degree in Public Management Law from Rio’s Castello Branco University and a Masters in Military Administration from the Brazilian Army Command and Staff College, Rio.
