Getac upgrades S400 semi-rugged laptop

Getac has upgraded the processing power of its high performance S400 semi-rugged laptop currently supplied to utilities, emergency services, automotive, field service and military customers.

The new Getac S400-G3 is the only semi-rugged device in its class that has MIL-STD-810G and IP5X independent certification - meaning it offers protection against dust ingress and is designed to survive drops, vibrations and perform across a wide range of temperatures. Getac is unique in designing its semi-rugged platforms to protect against damage when dropped, even while operating, making the S400-G3 the toughest semi-rugged laptop on the market.

Designed to provide high performance processing in demanding environments, the new device has also been ruggedised to work in even more extreme temperatures. Operators can use the laptop in conditions as cold as -21°C or as hot as 60°C, making it one of the most versatile semi-rugged devices on the market.
The advanced specification is available with the latest fourth-generation Intel®Core i3 and i5 processors for industry-leading performance for applications such as mapping and video processing. Its ability to use up to 16GB of RAM means running many applications simultaneously would not compromise on performance.

As with all Getac products, the S400-G3 is highly customisable, ensuring that end users have all the functions they require - built within the market’s toughest semi-rugged chassis. Communications are handled by the latest 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth, with the option to add SiRFstarIV GPS and Gobi mobile broadband for military standard location services and internet connectivity.

Peter Molyneux, President, Getac UK, said: “We are unique in offering a semi-rugged device that provides the performance levels equivalent to the most powerful laptops, with optimised processing performance that is matched by the highest standards of the semi-rugged specification. For users who need a powerful, but also tough laptop, the S400-G3 is the ideal solution.”
