G4S wins Tangier Med Port security contract

G4S has signed a new contract with the Tangier Med Port Authority and Tangier Med Special Agency to deliver a broad range of integrated security solutions at the largest secure site in Morocco.

The three-year contract, worth approximately £10 million in total turnover, will see G4S protect the port’s assets, commodities and people through providing a broad range of specialised services, including operational and technical security focusing on passenger and freight screening.

G4S will employ over 300 specially qualified security personnel at the port.

The Tangier Med port is widely regarded as one of the world’s most modern and comprehensive international port operations. Located about 40 km east of Tangier, Morocco, this cargo and passenger port, by capacity, is one of the largest both on the Mediterranean and in Africa with a five million containers, six million passengers and 500,000 trucks moving through it annually.
