Atkins has today announced the launch of a new training course designed to support those involved in the development, certification and approval of complex avionics systems.

Each week long, non-residential course aims to provide managers and practitioners working on aircraft, artificial satellites and spacecraft with an understanding of the tools, techniques, processes, rigorous standards and legal requirements specific to the development of avionic systems.

Both the Atkins and external course tutors have considerable experience in the development of avionic systems, as well as the standards addressed as part of the course. Consisting of practical workshops and presentations to reinforce understanding of the key concepts, the course has been tailored to suit both civil and military aviation specialists.

It also builds upon Atkins’ growing suite of safety and supportability training programmes including its ‘Air safety management training course’ and ‘Ship safety management course’, the latter of which has trained over 1000 delegates over the last five years.

The course is accredited at Master’s level through the University of the West of England (UWE) and provides delegates with learning credits upon completion of a post-course assignment.
