Aviation skills opps return to UK's Doncaster region
Twenty years after the aviation opportunities in the region were heavily affected with the closure of RAF Finningley, in a positive and highly significant move for the region and the aspirations of its young people, as well as those seeking re-skilling opportunities, ASP and the Doncaster College & University Centre have reached agreement to work together to develop new aviation pathways and skills initiatives.
Under the Aviation Skills Navigator partnership, Doncaster College & University Centre will work with ASP and its partners to adopt and customise selected Aviation Skills Partnership pathways to feed people into the exciting world of aviation - with its six areas: professional pilot, air traffic control, airport operations, operations, cabin crew and aircraft engineering.
The agreement follows the announcement in February 2015 of a plan by Aviation Skills Partnership and its partners, the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, to create the Vulcan Aviation Academy & Heritage Centre at Doncaster Sheffield Airport (above) honouring the flying life of the iconic Vulcan and inspiring a new generation of aviation professionals.
