Avon targets European law enforcement market

Avon Protection's powered air purifying respirator (ST PAPR) - designed to enhance the capability of its new generation FM53 mask - is poised for a push into the European law enforcement sector further to achieving CE approval this month.

CE certification will significantly open up European market opportunities and underlines Avon’s determined move into integrated respiratory protection systems.
The STPAPR is available as an optional extra with the CE certified Avon ST53 and ST53SD self contained breathing apparatus and offers a fully modular powered air supply when operatives are facing extreme respiratory threats from toxic industrial materials (TIMS).

It is relatively compact and takes just moments to attach by using quick connect air line couplings to the internal demand valve and a breathing hose to the mask.  Robust straps locate the unit alongside the air cylinder on the ST53 and for the ST53SD/STPAPR, while a twin-pouch back pack unit ensures the combined system is very comfortable to wear.

The addition of the STPAPR also provides the high level of serviceability and comfort associated with powered air while retaining the ability to switch instantly to the positive pressure SCBA mode when required.

According to James Wilcox, Avon’s Global Director of Marketing and Product Management, “Our advanced powered respirator has already won accolades from our North American law enforcement customers, who have been quick to partner this advanced respiration system with our  FM53 mask as part of their respiratory protection programmes.

“CE certification will now enable Avon to support and extend our FM53’s established success in new European law enforcement markets.  This follows in the wake of its recent award of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) certification.”

The STPAPR is CE certified for industrial protection with the FM53 against a defined range of toxic industrial materials (TIMS) and particulates at a high efficiency level.
