Troy Warfield, British Airways’ director of customer experience, said: “Sennheiser’s new top-of-the range headsets will enhance the in-flight entertainment we offer on our specially configured in-flight iPads and deliver stunning sound to our premium customers.

“We’re delighted to be working with Sennheiser, one of the world’s top audio specialists, to make our prestigious Club World London City service even more exclusive.”

Dr. Christian Ern, Sennheiser’s head of portfolio management Select , said: “Our PXC 550 Wireless headphones address the needs of frequent travellers, providing supreme audio quality and allowing them to enjoy their trip free from any distractions.

“We are very pleased to be working with British Airways to make their customers’ flight even more enjoyable.”

Designed with long-haul travellers in mind, the sleek and stylish PXC 550 Wireless headsets provide adaptive noise cancellation to combat ambient noise on any aircraft, and feature a touch pad allowing customers to control volume with just a swipe.

Other features include a ‘TalkThrough’ mode allowing conversations to be held without removing the headset and a choice of four different sound modes to customise the listening experience to particular content.

Class-leading ergonomics, lightweight design and high-quality materials make the PXC 550 Wireless extremely comfortable on flights, thanks to earpads designed for supreme comfort.

At one point Sennheiser provided headsets for British Airways’ customers flying on Concorde. Now the supersonic jet’s former flight numbers (the BA001, BA002, BA003 and BA004) feature on the double-daily Club World London City service, which has been offering a bespoke business-class only service between London City and New York’s JFK airport since 2009.

Each of the specially configured Airbus A318 aircraft has just 32 fully-flat beds, offering OnAir connectivity to business travellers, enabling them to stay in touch with the office during their flight.
