BMT to showcase Aegir at Pacific 2015

Experts will be on hand at Pacific 2015 to discuss the latest designs and services which will include BMT’s Aegir family of vessel designs, a version of which has been proposed by DSME in response to the needs of the SEA1654 Maritime Operational Support Capability Programme.
Industry experts from BMT will also be taking to the stage to present papers on:
• Rapid ship design evolution using computer algorithms to automate typically man-driven, labour-intensive components of the ship design process
• The challenges and resources required to effectively manage design intent of a more complex and capable Australian submarine fleet
• The Royal Norwegian Navy’s Logistics and Support Vessel and the operating context that this new platform will operate within

It is for this reason that we will also be highlighting our Submarine Academy development programme which we believe will help to deliver the ‘people’ element of our future submarine sustainment enterprise.”
As part of the ongoing efforts to support Australian skill development, BMT recently delivered its first Whole Life Warship Capability Management course in Canberra with an additional course scheduled to run again in February 2016. The course is the only one of its kind in Australia and has been developed to assist with the challenge of sustaining the existing RAN fleet, whilst preparing for major acquisition programs including offshore patrol vessels, frigates, replenishment ships and submarines.
BMT has an extensive list of high profile projects to its name, including contributions to acquisition programmes such as the Air Warfare Destroyer, Landing Helicopter Dock, and Future Submarines, and sustainment programmes including Collins, ANZAC frigates and Armadale class patrol boats.
