Boeing KC-46 completes flutter tests

The Boeing KC-46 test programme completed flight flutter tests on EMD 1 - an integral part of the certification process of any new aircraft programme to ensure the design is structurally sound.

Flutter testing is a prime requisite for aircraft capabilities testing. Successful completion of flutter testing enables an expanded flight envelope and the ability to safely put more crew on board for further testing. The KC-46 flutter tests included the Wing Aerial Refuelling Pods (WARP) and a stowed refuelling boom.
