Brian Honan inducted into Infosecurity Europe Hall of Fame

Infosecurity Europe announced today that Brian Honan, Founder and CEO of BH Consulting, will be inducted into the event's Hall of Fame for 2016.

Established in 2008, the Infosecurity Europe Hall of Fame celebrates the achievements of internationally recognised information security visionaries, luminaries, practitioners and advocates.

The inclusion of Brian Honan (above) in Infosecurity Europe’s Hall of Fame recognises his long term contribution to the information security sector, including his role as founder and CEO of Ireland’s first CERT; special advisor on internet security to Europol's Cyber Crime Centre (EC3); and industry expert on information security, providing consulting services to clients in multiple industry segments, mentoring new professionals and lecturing on information security at University College Dublin.

Brian Honan, founder and CEO of BH Consulting, said: “To be inducted into the Infosecurity Europe Hall of Fame is a huge honour and very humbling, considering the luminaries that have already gone before me.  As someone who has worked to defend and protect systems, I see this induction as a way of not honouring me, but rather the whole Infosecurity Europe community.  In security, you cannot be successful on your own, and it is this coming together within our community that enables us to keep our systems and data online and available.

“Security has had many technical challenges, and today and into the future security will have many business, people, and societal challenges and we need to continue to work together to ensure those challenges are met in the right way.  Infosecurity Europe is one of the best forums to enable those conversations and I always look forward to meeting people from different aspects of the community at the show.”

Brian Honan will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame during a session on the Keynote Stage at this year’s Infosecurity Europe 2016, taking place at 10.00am-10.30am on Thursday 9th June.   During the session themed Best Practice Incident Response, Brian will be in conversation with Dan Raywood, Acting Editor, Infosecurity Magazine and will discuss his career in information security and share insight into how connected organisations should tackle cybersecurity incidents.

Nicole Mills, Exhibition Director of Infosecurity Europe, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Brian Honan to our Hall of Fame.   His contribution to the sector over the years has been outstanding and the impact of his work on the industry immeasurable.  We are very much looking forward to hearing Brian speak at the show and hearing his thoughts on future challenges and collaborations within the industry.”

To be included in the Hall of Fame, inductees need to have made a clear and long-term contribution to the advancement of information security; have provided intellectual or practical input that has contributed to and accelerated the advancement of information security and also demonstrated creativity and original thinking in information security.  Industry luminaries who have been recognised in the Hall of Fame include Jack Daniel, Dr Eric Cole, Mikko Hypponen, Shlomo Kramer, David Lacey, Professor Fred Piper, Professor Howard Schmidt, Bruce Schneier, Whitfield Diffie, Paul Dorey, Stephen Bonner, Dan Kaminsky, Eugene Kaspersky and Phil Zimmerman.
