Bucks New University's Travel & Aviation courses awarded People 1st accreditation
The accreditation, for training providers in England, recognises excellence in the delivery of qualifications and training in hospitality, tourism, passenger transport and travel.
It was awarded by a panel of independent industry professionals after they were impressed after sitting in on lectures and having met with staff, partners and students at Bucks New University.
The University offers degrees including BA (Hons) Airline and Airport Management; BSc (Hons) Air Transport with Commercial Pilot Training; BSc (Hons) Air Transport with Helicopter Pilot Training; BSc (Hons) Air Transport with Private Pilot Training; BA (Hons) International Tourism Management with Air Travel; and BA (Hons) International Travel and Tourism Management.
Dr Jenny Tilbury (right), Head of Academic Department - Travel & Aviation at Bucks New University, said the People 1st accreditation was ‘a much-sought-after mark of quality’ that reflects the high standards of courses offered.
She said: “We are absolutely delighted and this is evidence that we have always taken pride in the fact that our programmes are developed with industry input, for the industry, and is great acknowledgement of how we do things and what we deliver.”
Simon Tar, Managing Director of People 1st, said: “Following great successes for the accreditation scheme in the hospitality industry, we are delighted to launch the programme to the aviation industry.
“We know that this is what the industry wants and needs and it has been our great pleasure to work closely with employers on the Aviation Industry Skills Board (AISB), such as Monarch Group, British Airways, Swissport, the Royal Air Force, London Heathrow Airport and FlyBe, to decide and set the standards for excellence in training delivery.
“We passionately believe that it is vital that students, parents and employers know where they can find an education which will exceed their expectations and this will lead to motivated, excellent staff in years to come. This is just the beginning; we hope to roll the accreditation scheme out further in the coming months.”
