CAAi unveils 'Just Culture' e-Learning courses
The new Just Culture regulation aims to encourage the open reporting of safety occurrences by eliminating the inappropriate punishment of front-line staff for genuine mistakes. This is an essential step in ensuring safety across the industry. Sean Parker from the UK CAA explains, “It’s important that employees report incidents for a number of reasons. Primarily so that employers understand when something has gone wrong, so they can learn from that incident and put in place measures to prevent it from happening again. They want to avoid it happening to someone else, potentially with more severe consequences”.
Developed by UK CAA Regulators, the new interactive online courses give industry access to those who have actively contributed to the new EASA Regulation. Featuring real-life, hard-hitting videos and animations, the courses are designed to have an impact on the delegate to help encourage behavioural change and the practical application of Just Culture reporting.
To influence organisation-wide open reporting and safety compliance, the two courses are designed for front-line staff and responsible managers respectively. ‘Just Culture for the Team’ is a 40-minute interactive course that addresses common human behaviours that typically prevents reporting. The course aims to give staff the confidence and reassurance they need to report incidents.
‘Just Culture for Responsible Managers’ is specially designed for those accountable for implementing, managing and maintaining a Just Culture within their organisation. The course guides Managers through their responsibility, culpability models and how best to measure and assess a Just Culture. After completing the online modules, delegates will have the opportunity to attend a 90-minute, live webinar with a UK CAA expert. Delegates will be able to discuss their practical experience of implementing/managing a Just Culture and compare their approach, successes and challenges with other delegates.
