Cardiff Airport appoints two Directors
Both appointments will add operational and industry-related expertise to complement the Cardiff Airport team led by CEO Deb Barber.
The Cardiff Airport Board has huge ambition in terms of growing the business and ensuring its long term sustainability. The announcement will see both Mr Bailey and Ms Mashlan contributing – both individually and collaboratively – to the development and delivery of the Airport’s strategic business plan, the upcoming Master Plan and the successful delivery of the UEFA Champions League Final 2017.
Mark Bailey (above) brings some 25 years’ experience to his new role at Cardiff Airport, having started his career as an architectural technologist at Dale Kennedy Partnership and going on to work in a similar capacity at notable firms including Boyes Rees, DPW and Powell Dobson. Latterly, Mr Bailey was Head of Operational Planning at TES Aviation Group – an independent aviation and asset management business.
Mark’s career highlights to date include involvement on some notable projects for Tesco, Celtic Manor Resort, Ryder Cup, DVLA Swansea, Cardiff Gate Business Park and a 600 acre site in Newport.
Ceri Mashlan (above) has been a member of Cardiff Airport’s team for almost twenty years, having joined in 1997 as a Handling Agent for Servisair, before moving on to undertake key roles within Airport Duty Management, Security and Airport Operations, closely supporting the senior management team. Ceri was promoted to General Manager of Airport Operations in 2014 where in addition to leading the operations team in the day to day management of the Airport, she also played a vital role in the successful delivery of major projects and events, including the arrival of the NATO Wales Summit delegation.
During her career at Cardiff Airport to date, Ceri has overseen the project to transform the security search area; ensured the insourcing of the security and fire service operations and worked closely with parties to facilitate spectator and player travel for the Ryder Cup.
As part of her new role as Director of Operations, Ceri will take formal responsibility and accountability for the delivery of the Company’s Operations Objectives; the output and management of the Operations Team and will be the Directed Person for Aviation Security and the Accountable Manager for Cardiff Airport’s EASA Aerodrome Licence.

“Our strategy for growth is focused on welcoming new airlines, adding more choice for our customers and to explore and develop the potential that exists within the airport site in order to diversify our business. I’m confident that Mark and Ceri’s expertise will be pivotal in helping us achieve this.”

Ceri Mashlan, Director of Operations, added: “I have enjoyed a varied and exciting career at the airport to date, having worked collaboratively with the team to deliver major transformative projects and events. This new role will add a new dimension to my current responsibilities, and given the exciting direction the airport is heading in I look forward to embracing this new challenge and working with our team as it continues to grow.”
