CityJet has announced the launch of flights to Nuremberg in Germany, with a scheduled service from London City Airport - operating up to twice a day - starting on 27 January 2013.

The new German route complements flights to Münster-Osnabrück, its first German destination whcih began yesterday (29 October). The Nuremberg route will be served by an Avro RJ 85 aircraft with the timetable for the winter season

The new route increases CityJet’s network to 20 European destinations across Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK.

Christine Ourmières, CEO, CityJet said: ”Nuremberg is a key business hub in Europe given its position as the capital of Germany’s industrial heartland.  It is the head office location for many of Germany’s multi-nationals such as Siemens, Puma and Adidas and it plays host to several international trade fairs.  Taking its business and leisure credentials together, it was a clear cut decision for CityJet to launch a new year-round service to Nuremberg, further extending our network into Germany, following the launch of Münster-Osnabrück this Monday 29th October.”

Nuremberg is host to several of Germany and Europe’s largest trade fairs which draw in thousands of visitors every year, including the Nuremberg International Toy Fair, the largest of its kind in the world. The city is also home to NürnbergMesse, one of the 20 largest exhibition companies in the world, organising 120 exhibitions in Nuremberg and worldwide which attract 30,000 exhibitors and one million visitors each year.

Alongside the head offices of Siemens, Adidas and Puma, the global headquarters of Staedtler, Faber-Castell and Stabilo are also based in Nuremberg.

The historic city of Nuremberg has stayed true to its past with a picturesque medieval old town and a wide range of museums showcasing the city’s history in printing and the arts.

Nuremberg’s Christmas market is Germany’s oldest and most famous, attracting over a million shoppers every year. Other key annual events include the Norisring Race, a motor sports event with over 100,000 spectators, and the Rock in the Park music festival. Also attracting leisure travellers are the charming daily farmer’s market in the main square and Nuremberg Zoo, one of Germany’s most unique animal parks.
