Cobham delivers 2,000th DACS

Cobham has achieved a major milestone with the delivery of the 2,000th Digital Audio Control System (DACS) shipset last month.

To add to the significance of this event, the recipient of the latest system - Airbus Helicopters Deutschland - also took delivery of the first DACS shipset in 2009.

DACS has been the choice of Aviators around the world for nearly seven years, delivering superior communication, enabling safer flight, and improving public safety with industry-leading technology and performance.

DACS provides audio distribution, control, and warnings necessary for a wide range of mid- to large-sized helicopters and fixed wing aircraft engaged in tactical missions.  The system is software-configurable and features removable legends for easy adaptability over an aircraft’s lifetime.

Forward fit on more production helicopters than any other digital audio system, DACS consists of an ACP53 Flight Crew Panel, an ACP51 Cabin Crew/Mission Specialist Panel, an AMU50 Audio Management Unit, and an RM01 Remote Memory Unit.  Together, they deliver digital audio clarity, reduced crosstalk, and the industry’s highest noise immunity level.

Said Cobham Aerospace Communications’s General Manager John Payne: “We are very proud to have manufactured and delivered DACS for 2,000 aircraft, and we will continue to listen to operators and improve the technology for years to come.”
