Commercial aircraft deliveries up 20% from 2013

Data released this month by aerospace trade organisation ADS Group shows that deliveries for commercial aircraft continue to rise, with year-to-date figures showing a 10% increase compared with this time last year, and a 20% rise compared with January and February 2013.

The value of year-to-date deliveries for 2015 equates to £3bn for the UK’s aerospace industry, with deliveries of widebody aircraft up nearly a quarter compared with last year’s figures.

There was also further rise of 13% in the order backlog from February 2014 levels. There is now nine years work-in-hand, worth up to £175bn in orders, which translates into high value jobs and skills across the UK.

Paul Everitt (right), chief executive of aerospace trade organisation, ADS Group, commented: “Aerospace is a UK success story and the significant increase in deliveries this month is good news for companies across the country. Industry expects to see a sustained increase in deliveries promoting new opportunities and growth at all levels of the supply chain.

Data summary:
• Record aircraft deliveries for a February see year-to-date deliveries up by 10% from 2014 levels.
• Year-to-date deliveries in 2015 also represent a 20% increase from 2013 January/ February levels.
• Total aircraft backlog has risen by 13% over the last 12 months; and 32% over the past two years.
• Value of year-to-date delivery figures in 2015 worth up to £3bn to the UK’s Aerospace industry.
