DSEI: QinetiQ demos ViewFinder

QinetiQ's ViewFinder combat management system is making its first European appearance at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2015.

An interactive touchscreen demo at the QinetiQ stand allows visitors to try out the technology, experiencing features such as 3D environment representation and the identification of multiple hostile and benign craft.

ViewFinder fuses data from multiple sensors to build a detailed picture of activity across the air, land, surface and subsurface environments. It continually monitors and identifies friendly, neutral and hostile tracks and highlights abnormal activity as soon as it develops, reducing the burden on the operator and maximising the available reaction time.

Sensors and effectors from competing manufacturers can be integrated to produce a single, detailed picture of the ship’s surroundings and enable swift action against hostile targets. Patrol activities, pirates, smugglers and terrorists can be quickly identified in the clutter of shipping lanes.

Born out of R&D activity with the UK Ministry of Defence, ViewFinder was launched into the international market at IMDEX Asia earlier this year. It is set to further strengthen QinetiQ’s International Mission Systems package, which offers independent analysis, procurement advice and guidance, system design, installation, testing and evaluation, and diagnostic remediation.
