Dunne visits BAE Systems Glascoed

Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, Philip Dunne MP has visited BAE Systems Glascoed for a briefing on current Munitions capabilities and a site tour, following a recent £50 million investment.

Mr Dunne has been responsible, since September 2012, for defence procurement and defence exports, as well as being the Conservative MP for Ludlow, Shropshire. He was accompanied by David Davies, MP for Monmouth.

Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology Philip Dunne MP said: “I was pleased to visit the new £50 million BAE Systems modern munitions fill, assembly and pack facility in Glascoed today. The site is testament to the expert manufacturing skills that we have in the UK, employing over 500 highly skilled people in Monmouthshire.

“As well as supplying our Armed Forces with vital existing munitions, the site is also about to produce state of the art new ammunition, such as for the new 40mm cannon to be installed in the turret for the Scout armoured vehicle, which we announced earlier this month. There are also export opportunities for the plant at Glascoed to play its part in supporting the revival of the UK's economy.”
