EasyJet reaches 100th route from Gatwick

The airline revealed last week that it has been successfully awarded the rights to fly between London Gatwick – easyJet’s largest base - and Moscow, with the introduction of the service marking the milestone 100th route from Gatwick.

It will operate an Airbus A320 on two services a day between London Gatwick and Moscow Domodedovo airport and expects to fly over 230,000 passengers in its first year of operations alone with tickets on sale in the coming months. Flights will start from next Spring.

EasyJet’s Gatwick route expansion continues with the launch of flights between London Gatwick and Kalamata in Greece, as well as the Spanish city of Santiago from summer 2013.

The airline will fly to Kalamata twice a week, with fares starting from £34.99*. This is easyJet’s first time flying to the Greek city and the inaugural flight will take off from London Gatwick on 6 July 2013.

EasyJet’s new route to the historic Spanish city of Santiago will see the airline flying to the beautiful city three times a week, with the inaugural flight departing on 18 June 2013.

“We also started flying to the beautiful Estonian capital of Tallinn last week with the first of the four weekly flights (departing Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) taking off on 28 October.  easyJet will be the only airline operating flights to the Estonian capital from London Gatwick with one way fares (including taxes) starting from as little as £34.99.  With 50,000 passengers expected to use the new service each year, the destination is the ideal choice for a unique city break.

EasyJet flies more than two million business passengers from London Gatwick every year and  has also taken the decision to further bolster frequencies on key business routes. Flights between London Gatwick and Belfast will be increased to five a day while a new route to the Isle of Man began operating four flights per week from early October 2013.

Simmons adds: “Adding further capacity to key business destinations is a further sign of our commitment to the London market and to provide an easier alternative to Heathrow. Alongside Belfast and Bologna we also offer a strong range of business destinations such as Edinburgh, Milan and Madrid.”

EasyJet now operates from 11 UK bases having officially launched at London Southend Airport earlier this year.
