EBACE 2013: Hangar8 is game for Africa

UK charter operator Hangar8 showed it was fair game when it unveiled a distinct zebra-stripe Bombardier Global Express jet at EBACE, highlighting its developing presence in Africa .

The Luton-based operator has a growing presence in private business aviation in Africa, which includes maintenance and operating facilities at Abuja and Lagos in Nigeria and at Pointe-Noir in the Republic of Congo, and the ownership South African Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC).
 
Hangar8 also operates Bombardier Learjet aircraft, especially equipped to deliver medical evacuation services to natural resources focussed businesses across Africa. Around one-fifth of Hangar8’s fleet is based in Africa.

The Hangar8 Global, complete with customised Zebra-print decals, is also demonstration of the breadth and depth of Hangar8’s bespoke client offering.
 
Chairman, Dustin Dryden, said: “It has been a fantastic year for Hangar8. We have successfully completed the acquisition of International Jetclub, further expanded our managed fleet, which stands at over 50 aircraft, and successfully moved towards managing a greater proportion of long-range, heavy jets in our fleet.

“We have expanded our presence across the fast-growing African market. Africa will be a crucial territory for our development, where we expect to see a 20% growth in fleet and turnover this year.”
 
The Global Express, which has the call sign ‘Hangar8’, is based at Luton airport and is one of five Global Expresses in Hangar8’s fleet of managed aircraft, three of which are available for charter.
