EBACE: Bombardier launches new cabin management system

Bombardier today unveiled a new cabin management system on Global 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft.

The new system will be available on new Global 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft as of Q3 2016 and as a retrofit on in-service Global aircraft models.

Designed to be ultra-fast, flexible and intuitive, the cabin management system’s robust design is based on a dependable fibre optic architecture for maximum reliability. The dedicated media bay with multiple HDMI and USB ports provides flexibility to connect multiple consumer electronic devices today and in the future, adapting the Global cabin to customers’ needs. The new intuitive user interface features first-class design details that complements the Global aircraft’s luxurious interior.

The system allows passengers to swiftly interact with the cabin environment, providing immediate access to work or entertainment content, flight maps or cabin settings. The key cabin controls are accessible in a single click to effortlessly navigate the system’s new intuitive user interface.

When paired with Bombardier’s fastest high-speed Internet connectivity system, available worldwide, users can seamlessly stream and mirror content straight to high-definition monitors just like at home. It provides an abundance of bandwidth, which can readily accommodate the latest consumer technologies and support future software upgrades easily and cost-effectively.

“Our long-range Global business jets routinely fly the world’s most discerning travellers to remote destinations in ultimate luxury and comfort. These customers are seeking the same cutting-edge technology in the air as they use in their offices or living rooms. This new cabin management system seamlessly blends ease of use and advanced functionality to deliver the best in business productivity, and entertainment at 51,000 feet,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Vice President, Strategy, Marketing and Innovation, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “The features, technology and reliability of the Venue system are a perfect fit with our high-performance Global aircraft family.”

Bombardier took the Rockwell Collins Venue system and customised it with a unique interface for enhanced flexibility.

“Venue offers the proven reliability and the tremendous bandwidth of its fiber optic backbone to allow passengers to work and play without compromise,” said Scott Gunnufson, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Support, Commercial Systems for Rockwell Collins. “At the same time, Global aircraft operators can have peace of mind knowing that their cabin management system will accommodate new technologies as they become available, and will support the future requirements of consumer technologies.”
