FIA 2014: 50 Scottish youngsters funded to attend Futures Day

A group of 50 Scottish students and apprentices have been selected to attend Futures Day at the Farnborough International Airshow, jointly funded by Skills Development Scotland and seven Scotland-based companies.

The group, which will be led by aerospace and defence trade organisation ADS Group, will experience a range of hands-on, exciting events and activities designed to demonstrate the wealth of exciting opportunities offered by a career in engineering.

Futures Day sees many thousands of young people from all over the UK visit the Farnborough International Airshow for free in what has become industry’s largest STEM outreach.

This is the first time that Scottish students and apprentices have participated in Futures Day and we hope these bright, skilled young people will find the day’s activities inspirational as they consider their future career paths.”

Alongside Skills Development Scotland, the following Scottish based companies are sponsoring the trip to Futures Day: Air Services Training, BAE Systems Regional Aircraft, SELEX ES, Spirit AeroSystems, Teledyne, Thales Optronics, Vector Aerospace
