Fourth 'Airbus Best Performance Award' for Cobham

Cobham Aerospace Communications has, for the fourth time in five years, received the prestigious 'Best Performance Award' from Airbus, who recognised the business units "excellent industrial performance on Airbus serial programmes and its sustainability in 2014".

Having identified Cobham to become, and remain, their sole source and tier one antenna supplier in 2007, Airbus set a number of qualifying criteria to enable Cobham to remain a strategic partner. What followed was five years of thorough work embedding Airbus' processes through direct and continuous improvement; improving research and development methods through GRESS process implementation, production and product audit processes and certifications, SQIP supplier quality system, ensuring a robust on-time-to-deliver process, investing and training Cobham employees and securing solid local supplier's networks to ensure long term growth.

With stringent conditions in place, productivity on site has increased by 60% which, when combined with Cobham's Excellence in Delivery initiative, has resulted in a leaner and more industrial set up, providing solid foundations with which to provide global connectivity solutions to aircraft makers.
