G4S aviation division sees significant annual growth
The growth, disclosed in the company’s preliminary results announcement for the year ended December 31 2012, is largely attributed to the development of a new strategy focusing on legislation driven operational excellence, coupled with a customer focused approach on service and consistency.
This has resulted in the development of new partnerships and technologies, and the strengthening of existing relationships such as the recent retention and expansion of the Oslo airport contract.
Whilst providing services to the aviation space for over 20 years, G4S made the strategic decision to develop a more focused approach to the sector in 2009, leading to a great deal of investment in sector specific resource.

Since then, the business has expanded to cover more than 120 airports in 45 countries, including Heathrow, Qatar, Schiphol, Dubai, Canada, Johannesburg and Hong Kong airports.
G4S has also seen its partnerships with airlines increase to 80 contracts.
The company’s core services include security screening, access control and AVSEC work, but it has now also expanded into cargo screening, documentation services, FM, as well as adjacent market activity such as K9 services, journey management and global country insights.
The G4S aviation division now employs more than 15,000 people worldwide.
David Stockton, global aviation director, G4S, who joined the business at the start of 2012, said: “We are extremely pleased with the continued progress our business has made over the last year. Our success is formed around people, process, passion and technology. These guiding principles are at the heart of everything we do.
“During the past 12 months, we have focussed on delivering an innovative service that combines the very best of technology, with the most skilled staff in the industry and or successes have been testament to this.”
On Group performance, Nick Buckles, CEO, G4S plc, said: “The overall business has performed well in 2012 with an acceleration in underlying organic turnover growth to 6.9%.
“The breadth of our portfolio in over 125 countries continues to present many new growth opportunities and we continue to see good opportunities for outsourcing in key sectors.”
