G4S Kenya to secure Africas largest wind power project
This project will be the single largest wind power project to be constructed in Africa, and the largest private sector investment in the history of Kenya.
G4S has been named as the security partner in the public and private sector joint initiative, working alongside other international businesses as part of a three year rolling contract for 15 years.
G4S will be providing cutting edge monitoring equipment and services in support of the national flagship project for vision 2030.
The project is a key deliverable under the Kenyan government’s commitment to convert wind to provide energy and scale up electricity generation to acquire adequate, reliable and competitively priced energy.
The construction of a 428km transmission line is set to roll out in June 2014.
Andy Baker, Regional President, G4S Africa, said: “This is a hugely significant contract for G4S Kenya. We are very pleased to be part of such an innovative and progressive project and are looking forward to working closely with all partners on what is one of the most significant developments in Kenya’s history.”
