G4S recognised by White House

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michele Obama have recognised G4S for its successful commitment to hiring returning military veterans and their families as part of the 'Joining Forces' Campaign.

President, G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc. Drew Levine and custom protection officer Joshua Milewski were invited to the White House to honour its contribution to providing employment for military veterans who’ve returned from service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Since the ‘Joining Forces’ campaign began two years ago, the company has hired more than 6,000 returning military veterans and their families as part of the Joining Forces Campaign. Milewski was one of the returning veterans hired under the program.

Milewski, from Baltimore, is a former U.S. Marine who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Milewski was hired in 2012 by G4S as a Custom Protection Officer. Since then, he has been promoted as a site supervisor. The company continues to support Milewski’s commitment to his country as an active member of the Army National Guard.

It was one of the first companies to join the Joining Forces Program and has hired 7,900 veterans since August 2011.

Returning veterans are a perfect fit for our G4S Custom Protection Officer program,” said Levine. “Their skills, experience and dedication provide true value for our customers.”

G4S estimates that 25 percent of its employees are veterans, working in all sections of the company from entry level roles to senior management.

The White House reports that in the last two years, the Joining Forces Campaign has received commitments from companies to hire or train more than 125,000 veterans and military spouses. The comprehensive national initiative mobilises large and small companies and non-profits in an effort to give service members and their families the opportunity and support they have earned.

“G4S has stood by me from the beginning,” said Milewski. “Even now, the company accommodates my National Guard Training schedule.

“I am proud our company continues to be a desirable place for returning veterans. G4S leads the security industry in providing quality security officer personnel. Our veterans are a natural fit for our company and they are a key part of our success,” said Levine.

G4S has consistently been recognised for its full range of military outreach initiatives. It was also recently named in the 2013 G.I. Jobs Top 100 Military Friendly Employers® list for four consecutive years.

G4S has also been awarded "Most Valuable Employer (MVE) for Military™ by CivilianJobs.com.
