GlobeAir enters strategic partnership with LCY
In 2016 there were over 3,800 business aircraft departures from London City Airport, with the latest GlobeAir deal forming part of a wider strategy to attract more business aircraft.
London City Airport's Private Jet Centre is the only one situated within London itself, which means passengers arrive closer to key business districts. It is three miles from Canary Wharf and five miles from the City.
Upon arrival at London City Airport, it takes just 90 seconds to alight the aircraft, clear customs and be in a car en-route to where the passenger needs to be. Similarly, those flying from London City Airport have access to a dedicated on-site car park for private jet customers, and again it takes just 90 seconds to walk from the car, pass through security and board a private jet.
New analysis from GlobeAir reveals that there were over 3,700 business aircraft flights into and out of London’s major airports in March 2017, which was 11% more than a year earlier. Over the duration of Q1 2017 there was just over 10,000 flights, representing a 9.3% increase on Q1 2016. GlobeAir’s fleet of Citation Mustang jets connect to more than 1,500 airports around Europe and North Africa, including those with a short runway not accessible to commercial airlines.

Bernhard Fragner, CEO of GlobeAir commented: “London is our second biggest market and it’s growing rapidly. In 2016 we operated 492 departures from London-based airports and the corresponding figure for 2015 is 368, which shows an increase of 34%. By offering our clients the opportunity to use London City Airport, we expect to see further significant growth in our London-based business.”
London City Airport recently announced that it’s making a £350 million private investment in the City Airport Development Programme, with plans to build seven new aircraft stands, a parallel taxiway and to extend the main passenger terminal.
In 2016, the airport had 80,000 air traffic movements, with the expansion programme enabling a a further 30,000 annual flights. The new infrastructure will mean the airport is capable of welcoming up to 6.5 million annual passengers – an significant increase on the 4.5 million passengers which used the airport in 2016. The airport’s expansion is due to be completed by 2021.
London City Airport also recently opened a new Business Lounge offering a premium customer experience for all passengers, housed in a newly transformed area of the airport’s Private Jet Centre, which is easily accessible from the main terminal via a private taxi shuttle.
London City Airport has made a multimillion pound investment to introduce UK's first digital air traffic control tower, which is due to be fully operational in 2019.
