Harriett Baldwin MP meets QinetiQ grads

Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, met with a group of graduates based at QinetiQ's Malvern site last week to help mark the start of National Science and Engineering Week 14-23 March 2014.

The graduates, who come from universities from across the country, have a wide variety of degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects such as Physics, Electronic Engineering and Maths, as well as Business Management. They are working at QinetiQ’s Malvern site where the company’s C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance), Safety and Acquisition Services and Security businesses are based. All of the graduates are strongly encouraged to become QinetiQ STEM ambassadors to work closely with local schools in their areas to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

QinetiQ’s dedication to its graduates is reflected in its leading role in the creation of The 5% Club where members are committed to making 5% of their workforce be either apprentices, graduates or sponsored students on a formal programme. All members also commit to publicly recording via their annual reports their current levels.

Harriett commented: "It is great to see so many young people choosing to follow careers in science and engineering and even better to see such impressive young people moving to Malvern. The QinetiQ site has been home to some of the most brilliant brains of the last century. I was pleased to meet the next generation of brilliant brains for Malvern. I would like to congratulate QinetiQ on its work to encourage students into science and engineering careers and also on its campaign to support the national apprenticeship drive with its 5% Club.”

QinetiQ is committed to helping our younger employees become the future leaders of tomorrow as they are ‘people who know how’ with the right skills to succeed.”
