Harriett Baldwin MP welcomes QinetiQ Graduates to Malvern

Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, was on hand on Friday at QinetiQ's Malvern site to welcome this year's graduate intake.

The graduates, 16 of whom will be based in Malvern, were together as part of their initial induction to QinetiQ, and are part of this year’s intake of 60 graduates.

Of the graduates joining Malvern, five will be joining the Cyber Security business, 11 joining the Force Protection and Acquisition Support businesses, helping cement Malvern’s reputation as a leading UK hub for science and technology development. With most of the graduates moving to Malvern and Worcester, they will be helping provide a boost to the local community.

The graduates, who come from Universities from across the country, have a wide variety of degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects such as Natural Sciences, Physics, Electronic Engineering and Maths as well as Business Management. All of the graduates are strongly encouraged to become QinetiQ STEM ambassadors and will be working closely with local schools in their areas to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, said: "I am delighted to be able to welcome a new batch of graduates to Malvern and wish them good luck as they embark on their careers with QinetiQ.

"It is gratifying to see that lots of new jobs are being created in Malvern and this sends a great message to the wider community that QinetiQ is starting to grow again.

"Nationally, QinetiQ is an important part of our defence and security industry and I look forward to hearing news of more new jobs in Malvern in the coming years."

Leo Quinn, QinetiQ CEO added, “We provide our customers with impartial advice and services, and our graduate intake is a crucial part of building the next generation to maintain this essential capability requirement. We will be recruiting apprentices in the New Year for the Malvern site in IT and Engineering for Security.

“QinetiQ is committed to helping our younger employees become the future leaders of tomorrow as they are ‘people who know how’ with the right skills to succeed.”

The graduate programme is one part of QinetiQ’s commitment to helping to inspire the next generation. The company also offers apprentice placements, year in industry, industrial placements, summer internships and work experience at different sites around the UK. Further expansion of these programmes is already being planned for next year.
