Hutchinson Engineering launches Training Academy

HutchinsonEngineering has launched a Training Academy addressing the skills shortage in welding and fabrication in the manufacturing sector in Northern Ireland.

The event is in association with Northern Regional College, Teach Weld NI and the Welding Institute Northern Ireland.

Leading providers of quality fabrication services, Hutchinson Engineering has invested significantly in cutting-edge technology and operates to the highest standards of safety and best practice in the manufacturing and engineering industry.  The academy will operate from the company’s 80,000 sq ft world class manufacturing facility, based in Kilrea.

Mark Hutchinson (right), Managing Director at Hutchinson Engineering said: “At Hutchinson Engineering, we have recognised that there is a significant shortage of both welders and fabricators in the manufacturing sector in Northern Ireland. We have some exciting long term contracts and rather than look further afield for talent, we wanted to invest in our people and help train the next generation, here on our doorstep.

“Since 2015 we have invested over £200k in welding and fabrication equipment. With this continual investment, we are now looking to invest in people. I would urge anyone that’s interested in our Training Academy to come along to our Open Day”

Taking place on Saturday 1st July 2017 from 10am – 1pm at Hutchinson Engineering’s Kilrea site, the Open Day will allow attendees the opportunity to hear about the Training Academy and meet the people they could be working with.

“The Open Day is for anyone interested in a career in Engineering. This could be school leavers or those already in a job looking to make a change and learn a new skill; for example, part time farmers, labourers on construction sites or someone simply wanting to learn a trade. No qualifications are needed but if they have the right attitude then Hutchinson Engineering will provide on the job training,” continued Mark.

“We want people to visit the factory and have a go at welding and talk to our experienced welders. It will be a great chance to learn more about the Training Academy which will begin in September with the assistance of the Northern Regional College and Teach Weld NI. So come along and discuss the career opportunities at Hutchinson Engineering.”
