IDEX 2013: Digital Barriers claims world lead in concealed object detection
This “exceptional people screening system” which has been proven in live deployments for border security and customs, law enforcement, public security and safety and loss prevention, is on display at IDEX (Stand 05-C1).
UK company Digital Barriers says the TS4, with its passive real-time detection and compact form, “is the practical, safe and non-invasive option for multiple screening applications.”
The TS4 can be used as a standalone screening system or incorporated into wider security architectures and infrastructures. Its detection rates for materials such as metals, plastics, ceramics, liquids, gels and powders are “high”.
Unlike many active screening technologies, ThruVision employs a passive approach that ensures safe and non-invasive screening. Digital Barriers says it achieves this by receiving and interpreting the natural Terahertz energy emitted by people and their surrounding environment. By aligning CCTV and Terahertz cameras, it gives operators real-time views of the individual being screened and any concealed objects.
The TS4 is capable of detecting concealed objects on people at distances of 3 – 10m, making it practical and convenient in real-world security situations. It is equally capable of screening multiple people approaching an entrance or a single individual in a compliant situation.
It is designed for indoor operation; installation is similar to that of a CCTV system, using wall or ceiling mountings or positioned in a floor stand. This makes it versatile and easy to incorporate into existing operational settings and environments where space is limited. It is compact and portable and is available with a full range of accessories to facilitate rapid deployment in fixed or mobile operations.
