Large aircraft orders keep UK industry buoyant

Data released today from aerospace trade organisation, ADS Group, shows aircraft orders for October have jumped by 92% compared with the same month in 2014.

This October, 94 new aircraft orders were placed worth up to £2.7bn for the UK’s aerospace industry. In total, 1,476 new aircraft have been ordered throughout 2015 reflecting the continuing trend by airlines to replace old aircraft with cleaner, greener and more efficient fleets.

To meet this rising demand, aircraft production rates continue to grow having risen by 40% over the past five years. This year has seen 1,133 aircraft delivered worth £19bn to the industry, and a healthy order book of 13,000 aircraft represents nine years work-in-hand.
