MAEL makes MRO team appointments

Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL) has announced two new appointments to its senior leadership team.

Lee Burgess has been appointed Head of Engineering and Andy Mackay as Head of Maintenance.

The new roles have been created following the resignation of Keith Earnden, Engineering Director who will leave the business in August.

Lee Burgess started his career at Monarch as an aircraft apprentice in 1987, after which he spent 14 years as an aircraft engineer at the Luton facility.

Since then Lee has held a series of management roles within MAEL, the most recent of which was General Manager, Maintenance Planning & Strategy, based at the company’s state-of-the-art hangar facility in Birmingham.

Andy Mackay will join the company on the 14th September. Andy is currently Operations Director and Deputy Accountable Manager for KLM UK Engineering with responsibility for KLM’s base and line maintenance operations at six locations in the UK. Andy is a licensed engineer and has over 20 years’ senior management experience in the MRO business.
