MAEL selects AJW Aviation to deliver PBH for Monarch's A320/321 fleet

Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd (MAEL), part of the Monarch Group, has confirmed a multi-year full power-by-the-hour (PBH) agreement with aircraft support specialist AJW Aviation.

The power-by-the-hour agreement will supplement the component services provided by MAEL to the Monarch Airlines’ fleet of 34 Airbus A320/321 aircraft.

Monarch Airlines is also seeking to optimise its fleet utilisation via increased flight frequencies and a reduction of its overall fleet to 34 narrow body A320/321 aircraft, while it awaits new deliveries of the Boeing 737 MAX from 2018. MAEL will focus on its core specialisms of line and base maintenance, Part M technical services and technical training; enabling AJW to assist with operational cost alignment through its renowned PBH service which commences in March.

AJW is fast developing a network of integrated aircraft support agreements that benefit from the Group’s inherent flexibility and support from globally located strategic spares hubs. Boris Wolstenholme, CEO - AJW Aviation, identifies why AJW is the ideal partner for MAEL: “We understand Monarch Aircraft Engineering’s objectives and are seeking solutions to improve productivity and profitability. Our global component supply and repair network is also backed up by AJW Technique, our specialist component repair division, and we manage consumables on a worldwide scale. Overall, the depth of integrated aircraft services that we provide, means that MAEL has not only a capable and independent partner, but also one that is renowned for innovation and customer service. We are delighted to work with them, a respected brand with a distinctive scheduled leisure travel offer.”

Ian Bartholomew, Managing Director from MAEL commented: “We have been working with AJW in an ad-hoc capacity for many years and decided that we could utilise some of the proven operational efficiencies and cost savings that their flexible PBH programme offers. By blending the PBH with our services that are measured by their reliability we can build the optimum structure. AJW currently has around 900 aircraft under contract worldwide and this gives us unique access to technical data and MRO statistics that will transform our service.”
