MB Aerospace Group poised for growth following acquisition trail

Posted 10 July 2012 · Add Comment

The MB Aerospace Group has undergone significant reshaping of its core business in the last 18 months as part of its strategy to position the Group for long-term growth.

Following the acquisition of US-based Gentz Aero in December 2011, closely followed by the purchase of the trade of Somerset-based Thomson Aero, in April 2012, the group has achieved rapid growth.

The addition of Gentz Aero’s 250 strong workforce and that of Thomson Aero brings the total number of employees in the group to more than 450. Coupled with the existing UK operations in Motherwell, Derby and Burnley, the acquisitions have created an international brand within the aerospace industry.

The group has extended its supply chain management service business, which operates throughout Europe from its UK-base in Burnley, into the US.

With the newly established North American base, the business can now deliver a wide range of complex, high-value aftermarket aero-engine components to the leading names in the global aerospace market.

The business now has the capacity to supply chain manage, manufacture or repair highly-engineered, performance critical aero engine components to support the challenging needs of its global customers, including Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing, GKN Aerospace, Hamilton Sundstrand, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Volvo Aerospace and the US Department of Defense.

Craig Gallagher, chief executive of The MB Aerospace Group, said: “Our vision is to provide customers with world-class technologies coupled with the exceptional service level they require. The enlarged group, based in the manufacturing heartlands of America and Great Britain, boasts a proven track-record within the aerospace industry.

“We have invested significantly in the business and our highly skilled workforce. These acquisitions coupled with the strength of our existing customer relationships, have opened up exciting new opportunities for the business and enabled us to develop our approach to legacy component sourcing solutions in the world’s largest aero-engine marketplace.

“As aerospace markets continue to grow due to increased demand for air and freight travel, the business has increased its skills set and significantly enhanced its engineering capacity to service our growing global customer base.”
