Niteworks announces new Partnership Board Chair

Niteworks has confirmed that Ron Finlayson will become the new Chair of the Niteworks Partnership Board with effect from September 2014.

Ron (right), who is Strategic Business Director- Defence at QinetiQ, has represented QinetiQ on the Niteworks Partnership Board for almost five years. He replaces Finmeccanica UK’s Vic Leverett, who announced his impending retirement as Partnership Board Chair in March.

Ron has enjoyed a long and established career in Defence, serving in the Royal Navy as a Weapons Engineer Officer before taking up MoD roles in defence procurement and strategic planning. He subsequently joined QinetiQ in 2004.

Learning of his election as Chair, Ron Finlayson said: “It is a privilege to be taking over as Chair. My aim will be to continue the good work of my predecessors to ensure that the Niteworks partnership delivers maximum benefit to the MoD and all the participating companies, both Partners and Associates. I look forward to working with the Niteworks team and the partnership to achieve this.”

Niteworks Managing Director Simon Jewell said: “I am delighted that the Niteworks Partnership Board has chosen Ron to act as its Chair. Ron has been an active member of the Partnership Board for a number of years and this, combined with his extensive MoD and Industry background, makes him well placed to support the partnership in the years ahead. I look forward to working with him and the rest of the Partnership Board as we support MoD address its military capability challenges.

“I would also like to pay tribute to Vic Leverett, who is standing down as Chair after more than five years and will leave the Partnership Board. Vic has been an outstanding Chair who has helped the Niteworks partnership to remain aligned with MoD’s new operating model.”

The Partnership Board is Niteworks’ senior non-executive body, contributing to the development of its strategic direction and enhancing the value it delivers to both MoD and Industry. It meets on a quarterly basis or as required to support the delivery of Niteworks.
