Omega lands AS9100 accreditation

Award-winning Omega Engineering Services has announced the successful completion of its AS9100 rev C audit - the aerospace industry's recognised standard for quality and risk management - close on the heels of record sales figures and exponential growth, particularly in the UK and China.

Following the completion of a rigorous regime of audits and site visits over nine months, Omega Engineering Services was awarded the prestigious AS9100 accreditation after demonstrating its commitment to quality and compliance. With a significantly more robust auditing process than the ISO9001 accreditation, Omega Engineering Services felt it needed the AS9100 accreditation to further differentiate itself in the market.

Andrew Hopcraft, Managing Director of Omega Engineering Services commented: “We have always focused on quality and on-time delivery because we know that our customers depend upon us and don’t need unwelcome surprises. As a consequence, we felt that ISO9001 was not sufficiently demanding for us and would be a key requirement as we develop our business globally. Given that we already worked to the principles of AS9100 and continue to grow in the aerospace sector it was a logical progression to apply for what is essentially the ‘gold standard’ in accreditation.”

This award comes at a time of significant growth for the specialist engineering services business, having just recorded a record quarter for sales wins. New projects continue in tandem with an ambitious growth strategy that has seen orders quadruple in both the UK and China. Continued success for Omega Engineering Services, established in 2005, builds on the company’s recognition industry-wide as technical experts within the aerospace, oil and gas, energy and defence sectors.

Amie Hewlett, Quality Manager at Omega Engineering Services parent company Omega Resource Group, has been at the heart of the project since the beginning and has played a fundamental role in ensuring the business’ processes are both best in class and used day in, day out. “We are very proud of this accreditation as it demonstrates the hard work all our employees undertake and the strength of our business processes,” commented Amie. “The accreditation process has been a long one however it will allow us to keep our flexibility and responsiveness whilst controlling quality and demonstrates that we have excellent foundations for expansion into the aerospace and defence market.” Already in 2014 Omega Engineering Services has attracted significant further investment in the business and has taken on their first apprentice and graduate.

Andrew added: “When designing and manufacturing, our clients want to concentrate on the end product they are developing, not the supporting challenges. OES offer the support services to take those challenges away, letting clients focus on their core skills. We offer a range of support services to enable our clients to design, manufacture and test new products by bringing together a multi-disciplined team of highly skilled engineers and prototype wiremen to provide a wide range of testing services quickly and effectively.” We continue to work with our clients to understand what our customers really value in order to restructure our business around this.

Multi-award winning, Omega Engineering Services has been recognised for its commitment to excellence and innovation including SC21 Bronze and Silver awards in addition to AS9100 and the WEAF Business Improvement Award.
