ONS report reveals aerospace and defence R&D spending increase
Commenting on the report, ADS chief executive Paul Everitt (right) said: “Today’s data shows that Aerospace R&D investment in the UK grew by 9% in 2013 outpacing the national business average.
"This increase demonstrates the success of the Aerospace Growth Partnership and the £2bn Aerospace Technology Institute in boosting business confidence and stimulating industry investment in innovation in the UK.
“UK Defence industry investment in R&D rose by 7% in 2013, making up some ground from a reduction in spending in 2012. Industry is aware that investment in innovation should be prioritised despite constrained Government defence spending.
"The Defence Growth Partnership is developing new mechanisms to support UK export success and recognises the importance of investment in new technology to creating world leading defence capabilities.”
