Passenger numbers soar at Belfast International Airport
Between Sunday, 5th July and next Monday, 13th July, the airport will handle more than 152,000 passengers. Each day, up to 100 flights will arrive and depart at Northern Ireland’s principal airport.
The busiest day will be Saturday, 11th when some 21,000 passengers will come through the Terminal.
The summer holiday period began in earnest with the arrival of larger, long-haul aircraft operated by Thomas Cook Airlines to Florida and Las Vegas as well as the inaugural Virgin Atlantic service to Orlando.
Passenger figures for June are up 8% on the same month last year and this trend’s expected to continue throughout the summer season.
The strong performance is attributable to increases on all UK domestic routes and popular international flights to Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Palma, Ibiza, Nice, Amsterdam and Cyprus.
New routes to Rome, Verona, Prague, Gran Canaria, Zante, Corfu, Reykjavik, Split, Vilnius and Katowice are also recording impressive performances.
