QinetiQ awarded MoD commendation

QinetiQ's Training and Simulation Services (TSS) Division has been awarded the highly prestigious Chief of Defence Materiel recognition for its innovative approach to delivery as a member of the Distributed Synthetic Air Land Training (DSALT) Team.

The team has created a world-leading Operational Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) capability, delivering in excess of 3,500 hours of mission specific training to front line forces, ensuring that they are best prepared for the complexities of combat operations.

In response to an urgent requirement for realistic PDT for Army Fire Support Teams in Op HERRICK, the team converted and upgraded a networked-enabled synthetic Capability Concept Demonstrator (CCD) in the Air Battlespace Training Centre to a first-class, operational Distributed Synthetic Air Land Training (DSALT) capability. This urgent and unexpected change required the project team to show a high level of commitment, drive, determination and innovation to deliver a unique and innovative solution to meet the life-saving PDT needed by the Front Line.
