Raytheon's Power Switch Node selected for SCOUT SV production phase

Raytheon UK has been selected by General Dynamics UK to provide Chassis Power Switch Node for the British Army's SCOUT Specialist Vehicle (SV) platforms, for an undisclosed amount.

Forming the core of the SCOUT SV platform’s chassis power management and distribution system, Raytheon UK’s Power Switch Node (PSN) provides the platform with flexible capability that offers 16 channels of fully protected solid state switching under the control of the platform’s serial data bus.

Raytheon UK’s PSN is ideally suited for legacy and future equipment requirements both in the UK and internationally.
“We have invested significantly in our advanced power products to ensure that they surpass the demands of a harsh-operating environment whilst providing customers with improved size, weight and power benefits with value,” said John Kennedy, Business Leader at Raytheon UK’s Integrated Power Solutions unit. “We look forward to working with General Dynamics UK as we move into the delivery phase of this essential programme which will meet the future requirements of the British Army.”

Raytheon UK’s PSN is one of the latest in the company’s platform power subsystems portfolio with CANBus and MilCAN interfaces. In addition to providing a means of efficiently switching power to the platform power consumers, Raytheon UK’s ITAR-free PSN facilitates the monitoring of consumer current, voltage, temperature and elapsed time data  all of which is available on the platform’s MilCAN Interface.

The PSN is designed and built within the UK at the company’s Glenrothes facility and meets the requirements of Def-Stan 23-09 for Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA) Facilitating integration into the vehicle’s Electronic Architecture, the PSN is easily upgraded through firmware updates during its lifetime as new requirements and technologies emerge, meeting future customer aspirations & growth requirements.
